when iMovie refuses to Share (finalize) a time line

It is usually an external clip that iM finds unacceptable. Always import, don't d&d.

If iM finds an external clip that you tried importing, unacceptable, run the clip thru Handbrake on default settings. That usually will make the clip "acceptable" to iM.
