Brother PTouch Label Maker stuck on large font

My Brother PTouch-P700 label maker is automatically defaulting to very large font size (32-35) no matter what font size I choose before printing. Brother support was of no help in resolving the issue. They blamed 3rd party tape cartridge, but I get the same result with Brother-branded cartridge. I have already deleted and re-downloaded the editing software. Anyone know how to solve this?

if it was me then I would look for some way to reset the device to factory settings

what AI says

"To reset a Brother PT-P700 label printer to its factory default settings, follow these steps using the device buttons or the utility software: [1, 2, 3]

Using Printer Buttons

  1. Turn off the P-touch printer.

  2. Hold down the Shift key and the "R" key at the same time.

  3. While continuing to hold down Shift and R, press the Power/On/Off key once, then release all the keys.

  4. The machine will initialize, and "English" (or the default language prompt) should appear on the display or status indicator. [1]

Using Computer Software

  • You can also manage, reconfigure, or reset printer device settings by opening the Brother Printer Setting Tool installed on your computer. [1, 2]

Note: Performing a factory reset will delete all stored label files, custom configurations, and internal memory data. [1, 2]

If you are trying to fix a specific problem—like printing errors, USB connection issues, or flashing indicator lights—tell me what the printer is doing and I can help you troubleshoot further."
