iPhone 14 Pro battery indicator stuck after iOS 27.0.1 update

Hi everyone, my iPhone 14 Pro started having severe battery reading issues right after updating to iOS 27.0.1:

  • The Issue: The battery indicator stays stuck at 100% during heavy use (~1 hour), then the phone suddenly dies and reboots with a critically low battery percentage.
  • What I've Tried: The battery was only 3 months old (100% health), but I took it back to the repair shop anyway. They installed a brand-new battery and performed a full factory reset, yet the issue persists.

Since a new battery and a factory reset didn't fix it, could this be a logic board issue (like the gas gauge IC) or a software bug with the new update? Any advice is appreciated!"

It could also be the third party battery that the repair shop uses. Yes, there is a difference between the aftermarket batteries and those installed by Apple or Authorized Apple Seller. Some repair shops will use the BMS (Battery Management System) IC from the old battery to avoid the non-genuine part warning on your iPhone, and those are intended to be replaced along with the new genuine battery that they are attached to. That is the small integrated circuit that is responsible for the state of charge estimates on your phone and managing the battery performance.

If the "shop" wasn't Apple itself or an actual Apple Authorized Service provider, the "shop" installed a non-authentic Apple Battery. Which renders your phone unserviceable by Apple, since it has been tampered with.

You could take your phone to your closest Apple Store and see if they would be willing to replace the battery with an Authentic battery, but they may not be willing to touch your phone. And that means if you do have a Logic Board issue with your phone, Apple won't touch that either.

If you need to buy a new iPhone, Apple won't take your phone in trade, and it's resale value is pretty much nonexistent. It's never a good idea to let some "shop" service your iPhone.
