iPhone 17 Silent Mode Icon Disappears

I just bought an iPhone 17. I'm using the action button for silent mode on/off. I have "Show in Status Bar" turned on. The bell icon with the slash thru it flashes on but then is replaced by an arrow pointing up to the right.

How do I get the bell icon to show when I have silent mode on?
