Cannot copy or delete first comment in Shared Album on iOS 27

When I first add a photo to a Shared Album, I can add a comment. Looking at the picture later In the Shared Album, how can I copy or delete that comment? In iOS 26, those options came up with a long touch; in iOS 27, they don’t.

I’m not asking about any comments added later; that still works as before. Only about the first comment added with the picture.

It may be significant that if a picture only has that single initial comment, when I bring up the comments pop-up, it shows me the comment but says there are “0 comments”

If you own and manage a Shared Album in Apple Photos, you have control over its settings and can manage comments and likes, including deleting comments when necessary. You can also change the album’s sharing permissions to control whether participants are allowed to post comments and likes.

See the pic below

However, if someone else owns the Shared Album, your ability to manage comments depends on the permissions they have enabled. If the album owner has disabled commenting for participants, you cannot add new comments. Similarly, you generally cannot edit or delete comments posted by other participants unless Apple provides that option for your role. The album owner retains control over the album’s settings and can manage comments in accordance with Apple’s available controls.

In short, the owner of a Shared Album controls its sharing permissions and moderation, while participants’ ability to add or manage comments depends on the permissions granted to them.

Not every issue an individual encounters on their device can be attributed to an iOS update. iOS 27 or later may have coincided with what you are experiencing, but that does not mean the issue was triggered by iOS. Coincidence in timing is not, by itself, evidence of causation.

If the update itself were the root cause, then every device running that same version of iOS would exhibit the identical problem. In such a scenario, the forums would be flooded with countless posts reporting the same malfunction, creating an unmistakable wave of complaints that no one could possibly overlook.

The absence of such widespread reports strongly indicates that the issue is not a general, system-wide problem with iOS 27 or later, but rather something specific to the individual device, its configuration, installed apps, settings, hardware, or another interacting factor.

In short: iOS 27 or later may be a coincidence in timing, but there is no basis to conclude that iOS itself triggered the problem simply because the issue appeared after the update.
