Mac Studio M5 Max mouse cursor jumps when clicking

I have a newly purchased Mac Studio M5 Max, and the mouse randomly jumps around whenever I click the right button, and often when I click the left button as well. Regular mouse movement seems to be normal.I have tried several different mice, mostly Logitech, but also Targus, using ones with USB dongles, and one using bluetooth. The behavior is the same regardless. However, these same mice I also use on other computers, in the same room, including a MacBook Pro M3 Max, an M1 Max Studio, as well as two other computers that boot to Linux. The mice all work normally on those computers, so we can eliminate interference, or mechanical issues with the mice themselves. I have tinkered with every setting there is, following every bit of advice from every suggestion there is available, and nothing works. I have adjusted every mouse setting in System Settings. I have disconnected and reconnected the mice. I have adjusted the speed, turned off and on every other setting on every menu. Nothing changes this behavior, and I cannot reproduce it on any of the other machines. I have tried to figure out what is different about this machine from the other, isolating it from hubs, KCM switches, etc., etc. all to no avail.

The only conclusion I can some to is that there must be something wrong with the mouse driver on this machine. Is there any way to reinstall just that to see if that solves the problem?

Thank you for your response. I think I stumbled upon the issue.

Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard > Full Keyboard Access > OFF.

I was having some slight issues with the keyboard as well. Turning this setting OFF seems to have solved everything.

Thanks again. I hope this helps someone with a similar problem.

The most common issue seen here tends to be initially chaotic,

then boils down to the same issue:

The Mac uses "all devices active" at all times.

Based on other readers' experience, the mouse you stopped using is still likely sending your Mac its inputs, and those inputs that you no longer want are getting combined with the inputs you DO want.

If this is your issue, the way to solve is to be exceedingly methodical about stamping out those unwanted inputs.
