Will major system software changes affect apps on my iMac?

Is there a major change coming to the system software that will impact the apps on my IMac?

It is difficult to determine what change or impact you are referring to. Every year Apple provides their major software updates and compatibility of the apps on your Mac would depend on the developer of that app. For any app you are wondering about, check with the Developer to see if it support the OS before updating.

Not anytime soon.

Some people are reporting some issues with Printer drivers and related software that is not working on Golden Gate, but beyond that, the only expected major change that may impact actual Apps is next year's macOS 28 which is slated to drop support for all Intel based apps, with no Rosetta 2 translation layer to fall back on.

If you have any Intel based Apps, its a good time to start looking for updated versions or replacements.
