Macbook Pro 2020 Failed to recognise HP DVD Drive GP70N

Dear All Gurus

I wonder could you please advise how to make my Mac Book Pro (2020) running on - Mac OS Sequoia Ver.15.8.1 recognise the HP USB External DVDRW Drive (Model: GP70N)

I could operate the DVD drive with my MacBook Pro of 2012, Running on Catalina .

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 15.8

Hi
Thanks for the kind response, I believe the GP70N is the external optical drive.
I believe as this is not recognised by my Mac hence doesn’t appear as an external device in the Finder window & subsequently couldn’t operate.
I wonder if anyone succeeded in making the MacBP 2020 or after recognise similar DVD drive.

Once again, an external optical drive with no disc in it won't show up on the Desktop or in the sidebars of Finder windows.

Do you have a disc with something on it in the drive? If so, is Finder > Settings set up to show discs in the Finder?

Optical drives don't show up in Finder windows. Only discs, volumes, and "burn folders" do.

"Note: If your computer doesn’t have a connected external optical drive that can burn discs, the New Burn Folder command doesn’t appear in the [Finder's] File menu. To see the New Burn Folder command, connect an external optical drive."

Hi Rudegar

Thanks for the kind response, I have tried with USB connection & the disk just spinning & also trued with external power as suggested by you however the MacBook Pro Filed to recognise the HP DVD drive.

I couldn’t see the DVD Drive in the Finder window, hence no command is executable.
