MacBook Air warranty service for US model in India

Hello Apple Support,

I am planning to purchase a used MacBook Air 13-inch (M5) with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD from an individual seller in India.

Device details:

  • Model: MacBook Air 13-inch (M5)

  • Serial Number: ***

  • Reported purchase date: 27 June 2026

  • Limited Warranty expiry: 26 June 2027

  • Original purchase invoice: Not available

  • Market variant: Reportedly a US-market model

Before purchasing, could you please clarify the following?

  1. Is this device eligible for Apple Limited Warranty service in India?

  2. Can warranty service be provided without the original purchase invoice if the serial number shows valid coverage?

  3. What alternative proof of purchase or documentation would be accepted?

  4. Are there any regional restrictions, exclusions or additional charges for servicing this US-market model in India?

  5. Can you confirm the current warranty status and explain any limitations that may apply to this device?

I would like to verify these details before making the purchase.

Thank you for your assistance.

The One-Year warranty for Apple products can include country specific regulations. I found this information in the related document for the One-Year Limited Warranty for the US:

...

Apple reserves the right to change the method by which Apple may provide warranty service to you, and your Apple Product’s eligibility to receive a particular method of service. Service will be limited to the options available in the country where service is requested. Service options, parts availability and response times may vary according to country. Apple may use Apple Products or replacement parts for service that are sourced from a country that is different from the country from which the Apple Product or original parts were sourced. You may be responsible for shipping and handling charges if the Apple Product cannot be serviced in the country it is in. If you seek service in a country that is not the country of purchase, you will comply with all applicable import and export laws and regulations and be responsible for all custom duties, V.A.T. and other associated taxes and charges. For international service, Apple may repair or replace Apple Products and parts with comparable Apple Products and parts that comply with local standards.

Welcome!

In general, it is poor practice to buy any Apple products outside the country where you reside. The limitations ingo2711 shows are all too common in Apple warranty documents.

By the way, you are not addressing Apple here but rather other end users. Apple does not respond here. We cannot give you an official or binding answer. We respond to tech questions based on our experience and observations, but you have a policy question.

One of my observations is that we see far too many sad reports here by people who buy Apple products while visiting another country and later find they cannot get warranty service at home.

Apple has a corporate representation in India. I cannot say if that office is staffed by contracted agents instead of Apple employees. Remember that published Apple policy supersedes what any single employee tells you.
