Keyboard size increased on 18 Pro after 27.2 update

The keyboard size on my 18 pro has increased a lot since the 27.2 update. While typing, it takes up about 50% of my screen. The icon size has increased too.

The toolbar displayed immediately above the keyboard (Refer to the Screenshot on your post) contains three icons—a key, a payment card, and a location pin—along with a separate button to dismiss or collapse the keyboard. These elements indicate that the interface is not simply the standard iOS keyboard.

This toolbar appears to be part of an additional keyboard-related interface, browser feature, or system-level input accessory rather than the keyboard itself. The key, card, and location icons are typically associated with features such as AutoFill for passwords, payment information, and address or location details.

Since the screenshot was taken while accessing discussions.apple.com, it is important to distinguish the website's interface from the iOS keyboard and any additional controls provided by Safari or iOS. The keyboard is rendered by iOS, but the toolbar and its icons should not automatically be attributed to the Apple Support Communities website.

Therefore, the enlarged keyboard and the additional toolbar should be examined separately before concluding that the change was caused by the website or by an iOS update. The screenshot alone does not establish which component is responsible for the toolbar or the increased keyboard size.

Not every issue an individual encounters on their device can be attributed to an iOS update. iOS 27 or later may have coincided with what you are experiencing, but that does not mean the issue was triggered by iOS. Coincidence in timing is not, by itself, evidence of causation.

If the update itself were the root cause, then every device running that same version of iOS would exhibit the identical problem. In such a scenario, the forums would be flooded with countless posts reporting the same malfunction, creating an unmistakable wave of complaints that no one could possibly overlook.

The absence of such widespread reports strongly indicates that the issue is not a general, system-wide problem with iOS 27 or later, but rather something specific to the individual device, its configuration, installed apps, settings, hardware, or another interacting factor.

In short: iOS 27 or later may be a coincidence in timing, but there is no basis to conclude that iOS itself triggered the problem simply because the issue appeared after the update.
