iOS 27 Bogging Down iPhone 14

It took 29 seconds to find a contact on my iPhone 14 running iOS 27.0.1. I upgraded to 27.0.0 a month ago. Everything I read said the slowdown was initial as things were indexing. A month later, my iPhone is still infuriatingly slow. I open a text to respond and have to wait 5 or more seconds for the keyboard to appear. The iOS 27 update killed my iPhone! I was a week late in being able to back down to iOS 26. I deleted my iCloud contacts as suggested and let them reload. Nothing has helped. Is there something I am missing? Or, is this Apple's way of making me get a new phone with a faster processor?

Have you updated to 27.2.0? It was released yesterday October 26. Once updated I like to do a forced restart and then every night for the next week it’ll be plugged into a charger, connected to WiFi and Locked. This will allow the device to do the majority of indexing, syncing and optimizing while you sleep. That way it can do longer tasks uninterrupted and faster. Expect it to take 5 to 7 days to play it safe. If it seems slow it might be in tge middle of a long task and using a lot of CPU cycles.

There are millions upon millions upon millions of people with iPhone 14 (11 and 12 as well) who are not having issues with iOS 27. So no, Apple is not doing anything to make you need a new iPhone.

But when we are dealing with iPhones, which are 3 or more years old, there are things which can affect performance. Storage and Battery are the two most common culprits. If storage is running low, phones slow down. And if the battery is failing, all sorts of issues can result.

Open Settings > General > iPhone Storage - If you used up a significant portion of the storage your phone came with, you need to delete things you don't need or use, like photos, apps, messages, videos, music, files, etc.

And to check your Battery Health - Settings > Battery > Battery Health - if it is 80% or lower, the useful life of the battery has been spent and it is time to pay Apple to replace the battery with a new Authentic battery (don't let anyone other than Apple of an Apple Authorized Service Provider replace the battery in your iPhone).

Thank you for pointing out those two items. Battery health at 96% & 20 GB of storage available. Any other items impacting this? Is there a way to see if the indexing is even working as intended? Thanks.

Interesting your battery health is 96%. Did you recently have Apple replace the battery in your iPhone? When did you buy this phone and from whom did you buy it?
