My Macbook pro won't connect with Ethernet but will to wireless.

My Macbook pro won't connect with Ethernet but will to wireless. *** I've tried everything, including restarting the router, cable modem and laptop. Verified that the ethernet adapter works, using another Mac. Tried using another ethernet cable, that works on the other Mac. Plugged the other Mac into the ethernet cable that does not work with the laptopand the other Mac connected just fine. Any suggestions?
