Apple advises that you replace it when the battery is below 80% so you are OK for a while yet.

If you are noticing a drastic drop in how long it lasts then you could change it now. Start here.

That is entirely up to you. My 3.5 year old iPhone 14 shows a battery health of 83%. I intend to keep using it until it shows signs of failure and/or no longer serves my needs, regardless of the reported battery health number.

So far, no newer iPhone models have given me a compelling reason to want to upgrade. I only upgraded from my prior fully functional and entirely adequate iPhone XS because I moved to an area that had poor coverage from my previous carrier. Your mileage and opinions may vary.

If Apple releases a new model iPhone with a screen size of 3.5" or less, I will jump on it.

Apple will not replace the battery unless the Battery Health / Maximum Capacity has dropped under 80%.
You have another 6-8 months or so to go on your battery.

I got a new battery for my iPhone 13 mini last month when the battery was on 83%. The Apple guy in the shop didn't even mention it but I noticed that he wrote something like "seriously degraded daily battery performance" on the job sheet (or whatever it's called).

If youre budget is fine you should buy a new iPhone because you wont be getting newer updates, but if you are low on budget 87% is okay and just get a magnetic power bank.
glad to help

Huh? What makes you believe an iPhone 14 won't be getting newer updates. iPhone 14 should get updates for at least next few years or more. If we look at iPhone 11, which was released in 2019 with iOS 13, it has been able to update to iOS 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 26 and 27. That's a full 7 years of updates from the date of release.

iPhone 14 was released in 2022, so it should receive a few more years of updates at least.

Should I replace my iPhone 14 Plus battery with 87% remaining?
