My iPhone 15 Plus has been repeatedly blocking my husband’s phone number after updating it to iOS 27.0.1

Ever since I have updated my iphone 15 Plus to iOS 27.0.1, it has been acting crazy and automatically blocking my husband’s number. And I have tried all sorts of things to fix this, but nothing has helped so far permanently.

every single time I try to fix it, my phone does unblock him for a few hours, but he gets blocked again in a few. I am losing my head over this and I see a lot of other people have also been facing this issue with zero resolution from apple. I want to know what to do next because this has been really frustrating to deal with, and it’s actually deterring me from buying another apple product ever again.

Let me add a list of things I have tried so far :

  1. Going to Settings -> Apps -> Contacts -> Contacts Accounts -> Toggling iCloud off and on. This has worked, but again, only for a few hours. I toggle it on, it works for a few hours. I toggle it off, it works , but yeah, just for a few hours.
  2. Creating an extensive contact card for him so that my phone doesn’t think it’s some spam call. Again, this did work, but only for a day.
  3. Deleting his phone number, and then readding. This did not work at all.
  4. Deleting his phone number, and then NOT readding - did not work. Even after switching my phone off and back on.
  5. Trying to unblock him from Settings. Did not work. I went to settings and then saw the list of blocked contacts and tried to swipe his name and number left, did not work. The number got readded to the block list.
  6. I simply cannot unblock him from his contact card. If I try clicking on the “Unblock” button which is right at the bottom of every contact, it simply does nothing, like it doesn’t work. I don’t even get anything like “Are you sure you want to unblock this” blah blah, nothing.
  7. I was patiently waiting for October 26, as I was under the impression that perhaps the new update would fix this. Nothing. I am now on iOS 27.2.

Help me resolve this issue, please.

Not every issue an individual encounters on their device can be attributed to an iOS update. iOS 27 or later may have coincided with what you are experiencing, but that does not mean the issue was triggered by iOS. Coincidence in timing is not, by itself, evidence of causation.

If the update itself were the root cause, then every device running that same version of iOS would exhibit the identical problem. In such a scenario, the forums would be flooded with countless posts reporting the same malfunction, creating an unmistakable wave of complaints that no one could possibly overlook.

The absence of such widespread reports strongly indicates that the issue is not a general, system-wide problem with iOS 27 or later, but rather something specific to the individual device, its configuration, installed apps, settings, hardware, or another interacting factor.

In short: iOS 27 or later may be a coincidence in timing, but there is no basis to conclude that iOS itself triggered the problem simply because the issue appeared after the update.

See what each update does: About iOS 27 Updates, About iOS 26 Updates, About iOS 18 Updates, About iOS 17 Updates, About iOS 16 Updates, About iOS 15 Updates, About iOS 14 Updates, About iOS 13 Updates, About iOS 12 Updates, and so on...

Choosing an Apple device—whether an iPhone, iPhone Duo, Apple Watch, or iPad—for personal use or as a gift is a matter of individual preference, requirements, and priorities. There is no single model that is ideal for everyone, as each person has different expectations, financial considerations, and usage patterns.

Several factors should be considered before making a decision, including budget, features, performance, design, aesthetics, colour, status, utility, ease of use, compatibility with existing devices, availability, warranty coverage, after-sales service, repair costs, resale value, longevity, and technological advancements. Your personal lifestyle, intended use, and the ecosystem of devices you already own can also influence your choice.

For some, the latest model with cutting-edge technology and premium features may be the obvious choice. For others, a previous-generation model that offers excellent value for money and meets their everyday needs may be a more sensible investment. Similarly, when purchasing a device as a gift, the recipient's preferences, requirements, and existing devices should take precedence over your own choices.

Remember, the most expensive or latest model is not necessarily the best choice for everyone. The right device is the one that offers the best balance of features, affordability, practicality, reliability, and personal satisfaction for the intended user.

Ultimately, technology should serve your needs, not dictate your choices.

Evaluate your options, weigh the pros and cons, consider your priorities, and choose judiciously. After all, it is your money, your requirements, and your decision!

And? Does that fix the issue though? Like I don’t understand why a lot of people on this website are so hellbent into defending the new updates because I see such replies everywhere, yet when I tell you that this happened literally SECONDS after I updated my phone. Even if the new update did not trigger this, what else did? And just because it did not happen to every single person who updated their phone doesn’t mean the update couldn’t have triggered it. That is just incredibly wrong and that’s not how things work in real life. I am just amazed to see people’s knee jerk reaction to defend the new updates while offering zero solutions regarding the problem.
