iPhone 18 Pro camera drops frames in 1080p video, smooth in 4K

Title: Weird iPhone 18 Pro Camera Bug: Frame Drops in Full HD (1080p) ONLY, perfectly smooth in 4K!

The Problem: Random stuttering and dropped frames occur in the native camera app when shooting in Full HD (1080p), even at both 30fps and 60fps, completely independent of any accessories or third-party apps.

The Plot Twist: When switching to 4K, the issue entirely disappears, running 100% smooth and stable.

The Conclusion: This points to an iOS software/firmware downscaling bug specifically affecting the 1080p processing pipeline. My workaround for now is sticking strictly to 4K. Has anyone else experienced this?

New update:

I actually tested another friend's iPhone 18 Pro, and it experienced the exact same issue. However, as soon as I disabled Auto FPS, the problem was resolved till now.

Hi, do you have any examples of outdoor scenes in good light dropping frames or indoor scenes in very good controlled lighting? I’ve seen this exact thing happen many times when Auto FPS is enabled and Preserve Settings is not enabled properly.

I suspect Auto FPS is enabled and what you’re experiencing is the camera adjusting from 30fps to 24fps in low light. I’d like to see the “frame drop” outdoors before we go looking for other possibilities.

The weird thing is that it's completely random: sometimes I record a scene and it stutters, but if I immediately re-record the exact same shot, it might come out smooth, or the stuttering happens again unpredictably.

(Also, when I transfer the file to my computer to play it, the default video player sometimes struggles or fails to play it smoothly)

I noticed that the Auto FPS setting is currently enabled. I am going to disable Auto FPS , run some new outdoor tests, and I'll report back with the results shortly!
