Audio Bug when switching to headphones

Anytime I connect a pair or headphones (repeatable with Airpods pro or my bose qc35) The audio device looks like it switches properly but I don't get audio in my headphones until I manually switch the audio device off of the headphones then back to them or adjust the volume.
