How do I increase the number of recent documents to access in Pages. Everywhere I look online, I find these instructions, but they are incorrect.

Online sites frequently reference past information. Apple changes stuff. Unless those online sites associate the Preferences or System Settings panel to the correct version of macOS that you are using, you will become frustrated with wrong advice.
Start by asking in this community and by providing us with your current version of macOS. Then we, as Peggy has illustrated, can narrow your question to a definitive result.
You haven't said what version of macOS you are using. I do have a item named "Menu Bar" in System Setting in Golden Gate, macOS 27, that I don't see in your screenshot.
Have you tried searching for "Menu Bar" at the top of System Settings? Searching System Settings is often the only way I can find a setting I don't use very often.
Thank you, Peggy. I am using Sequoia 15.7.9. I don't have a menu bar in systems settings. I did search for it, but nothing came up, so I decided to search for other things. I did find something when I searched System Settings for "recent documents." It was set on 15. I set it to a higher number. So hopefully that works.

I'm glad you found it. I found it just by typing "recent" in the search field. You don't need to know the exact wording, often just one word will get you what you need. More words can even cause problems.
