This is a 'known' (= reported on GitHub) display or color profile glitch tied to sleep/wake handling in macOS Golden Gate. When the Mac wakes up, the display pipeline or color lookup table sometimes fails to reset properly, rendering black or dark values as a reddish hue until the system reboots.
Quick Workarounds to Try
- Adjust Brightness: Toggle your display brightness all the way to maximum and then back down, or briefly put the display to sleep and wake it again, which can force the GPU to re-evaluate the color pipeline (similar behavior to known inverted/tinted color wake bugs).
- Check Color Profiles: Go to System Settings > Displays, click Color Profile, and switch to a standard profile like Color LCD or sRGB IEC61966-2.1 to see if a custom or corrupted profile is misinterpreting black levels on wake.
- Toggle Display Sleep / Accessibility Filters: Go to System Settings > Accessibility > Display and toggle Invert Colors or Color Filters on and off to flush the screen rendering state.
- Report the Bug: Since macOS Golden Gate is a newer release, you can file feedback via Apple's Feedback Assistant app so the engineering team tracks the display-wake color corruption.
