iMac access to Music app and AppleID Setting message

I have a 2012 iMac running macOS Catalonia and have been experiencing this problem for a while now. There are actually two but I think they may be connected. System preferences keeps telling me to update Apple ID Settings, but doesn't tell me what to update. Also, Music app will not log into my account. It works fine on my ipad2 and my iPhone and on the web access, but just will not connect on my iMac. I've tried the 'redeem' hack, reseting cache and library, renaming library. My username and password are correct, it won't let me authorise the computer ('There's a temporary problem' message), tried logging in and out of iCloud, starting in safe mode. Not sure what else I can do.

Hi there

Please try this

The warning message often lingers because iCloud Keychain fails to complete a handshake or local token refresh.

  • Toggle iCloud Keychain: Go to System Preferences > Apple ID (or your name at the top) > iCloud. Find Keychain in the list. If it is checked, uncheck it, wait a few moments, and check it again—entering your Apple ID and Mac login passwords when prompted.
  • Refresh Apple ID Password Token: Sometimes changing your Apple ID password (even to the same one or a fresh one via Apple ID Account Page) forces all local devices to flush out old authentication tokens.
  • Clear Corrupted Keychain Files:
    1. Open System Preferences > Apple ID and sign out (choose to keep a copy of your data locally when prompted).
    2. Open Finder, press Shift + Command + G, and go to ~/Library/Keychains.
    3. Locate the folder with a long string of random numbers and letters, drag it to your Desktop as a backup, and restart your Mac.
    4. Sign back into iCloud in System Preferences.
