How to restore Calendar popup in macOS Golden Gate 27.0.1 on Mac mini?

I am having mini calendar issues. When I click on the icon in my menu bar, it used to open a small popup calendar to check dates at a glance. Now, when I click on the icon, I get a popup that has two items: preferences and quit. I have tried everything multiple times to get the calendar popup back - changed every preference, quit the app and restarted. I deleted the app and redownloaded from the app store - same result. Running Golden Gate 27.0.1 on a Mac Mini. Suggestions? TYIA
