Hi,

Your iPad is likely stuck in a boot loop caused by a low battery or a corrupted software update.

Charge the iPad

  • Plug your iPad into a wall outlet using a certified charger and cable.
  • Leave it to charge undisturbed for at least 30 to 60 minutes. A completely drained battery often causes the Apple logo to flash before shutting down again due to insufficient power.

Force Restart Your iPad

If charging does not work, perform a force restart based on your model:

  • For iPads without a Home button (Face ID or Touch ID in the top button):
    1. Press and quickly release the volume button closest to the top button.
    2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
    3. Press and hold the top button until the Apple logo appears.
  • For iPads with a Home button:
    1. Press and hold both the Home button and the top (or side) button at the same time.
    2. Keep holding them until the Apple logo appears, then release.

Use Recovery Mode via Computer

If the boot loop continues, you will need to use a computer to reinstall the software:

  1. Connect your iPad to a Mac (using Finder) or a Windows PC (using iTunes or the Apple Devices app).
  2. Follow the force-restart button sequence for your specific model above, but keep holding the buttonswhen the Apple logo appears until you see the recovery mode screen (a computer and cable icon).
  3. On your computer, select Update to reinstall iPadOS without losing your data. If that fails, you may need to choose Restore, which factory-resets the device
