Muffled audio on mac book

Hello, the audio on my mac sounds muffled. Here's what i use to record. I have an telefunken m80 (i tried switching mics and the problem is still there) going into a motu m2 and then into my macbook to my DAW that i use (either pro tools or FL studio). The audio signal from my microphone sounds muffled. I tested my sound card and its not the problem cause i can listen to any audio and it doesnt come out muffled. Only and audio signal going through my macbook sounds muffled. Can someone help me please.

If other audio plays fine and only the mic input sounds muffled, check the sample rate. Open Audio MIDI Setup, select the MOTU M2, and set it to the same rate as your DAW session, usually 44.1 or 48 kHz. A mismatch makes the recording sound dull.

Also make sure the DAW input is the MOTU and not the Mac's built-in mic, and that no EQ or low-pass is on the track.
