Child's disabled iPhone 15 Pro, Apple Account password recovery

Hello Apple Community,

I desperately need help with a serious issue involving my 10-year-old son’s iPhone 15 Pro and his Apple Account.

I am his mother and legal guardian. His Apple Account is registered as a child account under my Family Sharing group, and I am listed as his parent.

Here is what happened:

My son forgot his iPhone passcode and entered it incorrectly several times. Initially, his iPhone was disabled for eight hours. After another unsuccessful attempt, the device became completely unavailable, displaying “iPhone Unavailable” without a countdown.

Unfortunately, we also discovered that the password we have recorded for his Apple Account no longer works.

I have tried multiple official recovery methods, but each attempt has led to another obstacle.

1. Family Sharing password reset does not work.

I attempted to reset my son’s Apple Account password through Family Sharing using both my current iPhone 17 Pro Max and my previous iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Both devices displayed a security message stating that they were too new to modify account information and suggesting that I use another trusted device.

The suggested device was my son’s locked iPhone 15 Pro!

2. Account recovery requires an unknown 28-character recovery key.

I accessed Apple’s official password recovery website and successfully verified the trusted phone number using an SMS code.

However, I was then asked to enter a 28-character Recovery Key.

I do not remember ever creating or enabling such a key for my son’s account, and I have no record of it.

Is it possible for a 10-year-old child’s Apple Account to have a Recovery Key enabled without the parent’s knowledge?

3. Additional security restrictions appeared.

After the recovery session was interrupted, I attempted to restart the process, but Apple temporarily stopped allowing me to request another verification code.

4. Apple Support has been unable to direct me to the appropriate team.

I live in Russia, where contacting US Apple Technical Support by telephone is difficult.

I spent several hours communicating with Apple representatives through online chat. I was repeatedly promised a transfer to technical support, but I was ultimately informed that I had reached the sales and customer service departments.

I was repeatedly given a US telephone number instead of a practical way to obtain technical assistance.

My questions are:

  1. How can a parent reset a child’s Apple Account password when Family Sharing password recovery is blocked by a security waiting period?
  2. Is there any alternative recovery method if a 28-character Recovery Key is requested but was never knowingly created or saved?
  3. Can Apple verify my parental status and help restore access to my child’s Apple Account?
  4. Is there any way to recover access to the locked iPhone 15 Pro without losing his photos and personal data?
  5. How can I contact Apple Technical Support in writing from Russia?

I can provide proof of device ownership and verify that I am the parent and legal guardian associated with the child’s Family Sharing account.

I am extremely concerned about losing my son’s personal data and access to his Apple Account.

I would greatly appreciate any guidance from experienced community members or Apple specialists.

Thank you very much for your help
