Child account restrictions on iPad and Screen Time affecting parent's device
I have been trying to set up a child account for my 10 year old. We bought him an iPad and I want to allow him to use it for school work and to text/facetime family members.
I was able to create an account for him with the settings for 9+ Apps & Websites. I entered the contacts for our family members and set those to be the contacts he's allowed to message & talk with.
From here I've run into several issues:
1) He can't download any apps, even those labeled as 4+. Everything is restricted. I also can't get any messages from his device to give permission to download anything (I.e. Safari - he can't open it because it's rated 16+, but he needs to have a web browser).
2) His screentime settings are affecting my device. I'm getting notifications on my messages about sending videos/images to my contacts. My phone provider sent me a message yesterday and I couldn't read it because it wasn't an approved contact.
I clearly created these settings on the child account, but now they are cross-contaminated onto my device.
