AirPods Pro noise cancellation has deteriorated

The noise cancellation in my Air Pods Pro has deteriorated significantly. I can still hear the difference, but just barely. They used to reduce ambient noise enormously. I mostly use the Air Pods with a very old iPhone which I now use only for podcasts and music, but I sometimes use them for phone calls with my iPhone SE running iOS 27.0.1. I have not changed any settings.
