I'm watching the Apple Fall event and I've just seen the new ipod shuffle.I don't understand why apple remove the buttons in my ipod shuffle version and now they add them again.
I use the shuffle just for running and it is a pain not to be able to change the songs. If I could I would return my shuffle and would buy the new one, but... I bought 2 months ago.... I AM VERY UPSET.
Don't forget how poor Apple's response was to the sweat/moisture issue affecting the shuffle 3G. To my knowledge they never explicitly acknowledged the flaw. It took them so long to even issue the headphone replacement program.
this is known problem and Apple need to step up the place and offer us a swap to the 4th generation shuffle or give us some trade in value with the defective 3rd generation shuffle.
Anyone know how many songs the new IPOD Shuffle released 9/1/10 will hold? My IPOD Shuffle 3rd Generation holds over 1100 & I won't buy the new one unless it holds that much or more.
I'm guessing the 4G shuffle is in response to the quality issues of the 3G. It appears Apple took the advanced features of the 3G, put them into the 2G, and now call it 4G. My wife has had continual problems with the headphones & both of our shuffles were replaced after 3 months due to battery issues.
You mean your Ipod shuffle is still working after 2 months? Your doing very well. As the new new "sleek and durable" Ipod shuffle just released, I'm not wasting any more money unless it's "sweat proof". "Form follows Function", thats why I say.... and Jobs should be given that message hard....
Yes, you are right, but I did't know that I have to change the songs with the headphone cable.
My problem is that I use special running headphones so I cannot change the songs.
I purchased a Gen2 Shuffle over two years ago with a $99 set of V-Moda earbuds. I have used it every day for one hour on the treadmill at the health club - never missed a beat. Then two weeks ago, it ended up in the washing machine by accident - end of story.
So... I ordered a new Gen3 Shuffle as a replacement. Really hate the shape, but that was my only option - very unstable shape for working out (unlike the former square shape). But the real problem was that after I got it, I realized that the controls were moved to the cable. Therefore, I ordered a new set of V-Moda Remix Remote earbuds (another $99) to get everything to work!
Now I see that they have released the Gen4 the day after they shipped me the last Gen3 built apparently (engraved of course). For 50 bucks I will probably go ahead and buy the Gen4 if it looks like they have solved the "sweat/moisture" problem on the Gen3, just because I liked the shape and on-board controls of the Gen2 so much better. So, looks like the $50 loss in the washing machine may end up costing me at least $200 to get back to Nirvana.

That is exactly what I would have done if I had ordered the Gen4 after I trashed my Gen2. The problem is that I had to order the new V-Modas with the cable control for the Gen3 that I ordered a couple weeks ago before I realized what a dog the Gen3 unit itself was. So now I have both sets of V-Modas. I suppose I could return the new set of V-Modas when they come in, but none of this is V-Moda's fault. Mostly my fault for not research all the Gen3 problems ahead of time and not waiting for the Gen4 to be announced.
According to V-Moda Tech Support, they think the new set will work with either the Gen3 or Gen4. It also appears that looking at the Apple Store description, the Apple Cable Control earbuds will work with the new Nano at least (allowing volume control from either the unit itself OR the earbud cable). So hopefully they will also be able to control the Gen4 if I decide to order one.
Just got the new 4th gen Shuffle after much abuse finally killed my 2nd gen. I went for one 6 mile run with no problems during the run. After trying to recharge it I cannot get it to play. Apparently they haven't fixed the "sweat issue"!
