How to claim my iTunes Ping Artist Page?

I know I can't even download iTunes 10 yet, but I'm just curious how this will work. I am a musician with 2 albums on the itunes store:

How would I go about "claiming" my artist page for iTunes Ping so that I could bring followers and fans over from Facebook and Twitter etc? Anyone know yet?

Me too. And plus, I happen to have a conflicting artist name... we seem to be two artists on iTunes called CUCKOO. How do we manage that?

Apple, for this to take off I hope you treat this one right! I'd be ready to go anytime!
Not like you have done with iTunes LP that STILL seems to be for "selected only" to submit.

This has to be very open and simple for the artists. There are thousands of artists with iTunes content, either in compilations, albums or bands, and even iTunes U content providers should be Pingable.

best regards
CUCKOO

i've been hunting for an answer for a few hours now. i wrote to itunes customer service, which guarantees a response within 48 hours.

hopefully apple will role out artist sign-up pages soon, because so far, ping is only fun for fans of U2, yo-yo ma and lady ga ga.. weird that they wouldn't have the artist pages ready at launch. seems like a big part of what makes the idea of ping interesting.

i'm very curious as to how itunes can guarantee artists their names and verify who they belong to, etc. will post if i hear anything, of course.

by the way, zoe - you are such an incredibly gifted person and i'm a huge fan of the beautiful music you make! good luck on your ping adventures.

It will have to be accessed through whatever service you used to get on iTunes in the first place I'd imagine. I used Tunecore, but I know there are quite a few others. The bigger artists must gain access through their labels. I sent an email to Tunecore and one to Apple, but I'm guessing it may take a few weeks before this is all figured out. Right now Ping is a bit of a ghost town. It reminds me a bit of "Eworld" for anyone that remembers those days 🙂
