Hopeless newbie seeks help..!

Hi there. On a whim, I have just bought an iMac G4. It was boxed and complete with all discs and documents etc and it was £75 so I just had to have it (even though I'm totally new to Mac). It's lovely and I've done a complete system restore and it works like a charm. - It's the later 15" flat panel 1gH version running Panther OS X 10.3. It's unmodified and has not been upgraded since new.

My first question (for now) is this: Where can I get additional software for it? I would particularly like Garageband but I think it will only run up to V 3.0 and I can't find a copy anywhere... I would have thought that older software would be dirt cheap and all over the place, particularly used on places such as eBay, but it seems to be non-existent or extremely pricy. Am I missing something or have I bought an obsolete machine which can't be added to..?

Similarly, I have found out that it will run up to the Leopard OS. Again, as that's now an outdated OS, I'd have though I could find it cheap but it seems to be about ten times more than the current Snow Leopard OS!

Am I going mad...?

Is there anywhere out there for the dusty old Mac user...?

Thanks!

Thanks for that Zeetog. Yes, I'm i the UK. Since my original post I have found that Apple still do have a few retail copies of Leopard available at approx £90. I have also found an advert for a used copy of the Tiger update DVD (the black one) for £50.

I have ordered an additional 512k of RAM for the empty slot on the base of the machine, so it will soon be running approx 750k of RAM with the 1 gH power processor.

So... would it be worth getting Leopard at more than the machine has just cost me? Will it run far too slowly due to the limited 'computing' speeds of the machine, or would the used copy of Tiger be better?

With both of these, is it then possible to sell them on again to part recover my costs of are they strictly a one-user thing (and, if so, how does the pre-owned version of Tiger work...)?

Thanks. I'm getting there and loving my little machine. It has really whet my appetite for bigger things...
