iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.4)
Actually I have found that I was able to pair the iMac with my iPad but I have not been able to use this in any way.
My ipad and iMac connect via bluetooth just fine. I just don't know what I can use it to do. On the iPad it says connected and on the iMac it has the green light and it says, "connected."
Any thoughts or ideas on what can be achieved with blue tooth between the devices. It might be redundant with all the airplay, icloud, and autosync features, but you never know what secrets have been baked into the devices.

As has already been pointed out in this thread, pretty much nothing. The iPad has BT profiles for headsets, car systems, speakers and keyboards. You can also pair an iPad to an iPhone to share the iPhone's internet connection.
My iMac picks up free internet by the window, my iPad doesn't. I paired them via bluetooth, and was able to get get internet on my iPad by internet sharing with the iMac.
Is your iPad jailbroken?
Please post the scfeen shots that show the connection
will post pics...
My iPad isn't house broken, never mind jailbroken. It's a bog standard Gen 2 iPad (no 3g).
The iMac is by the window, where it's able to pick up a free WiFi signal. The iPad doesn't see the WiFi at all, even when I stand by the window with it. The iMac seems to have a better receiver. That's when I decided to see if I could use the iMac to share its internet connection, and after a bit of mucking around it worked via bluetooth.
Hope these images help...
1. iMac SysPrefs 'Bluetooth' tab screen shot
2. iMac SysPrefs 'Sharing' tab screen shot
To check "Bluetooth PAN" checkbox on the right, you have to uncheck "Internet Sharing" on the left first. (Re-check it when you're done)
3. iPad Settings 'General' tab, Bluetooth 'On' (photo)
4. iPad showing iMac connected via bluetooth (photo)
...that's yours truly reflected on screen, w/cam
5. iPad showing web connectivity via bluetooth connection with iMac, no WiFi (photo)
Interesting. I just paired and connected my iPad 1 to my Mac Mini. I do not know what to do with it since the Mini uses wifi for internet.
I also tried my iPhone 4S. I could pair the mini with it but not connect.
