Is that a way to completely remove Ping from iTunes 10?

hello;

so far in the less than 30 minutes I had iTunes 10 installed I do not like it.
It would have been simple to put a preference in to disable Ping.

I have removed iTunes 10 and reinstalled iTunes 9.2.1. I need to rebuild the
iTunes Library because iTunes 10 updated it and iTunes 9.2.1 is unable to
read it.

I do not like having Ping shoved down my throat whether I want it or not.
I do not like social networking sites and Ping is no exception. The only ping
I want on my computers is the unix command 'ping' used to diagnose network
issues and problems.

I am in total agreement with you. I am waiting until someone finds a way to remove it, or Apple allows users to decide. I don't use social networks much, and I don't want it crammed into something I use every day. iTunes already got super bloated with that stupid Genius playlists and even that grid flow adds no use other than to be pretty. I am posting this from my G4 mac, but have a MacBook with the new intels in and still don't want this because I know it is going to be bigger and slower than what I have now.

Please Apple, let users decide if they want to opt-into installing this.

hello;

that does not turn it 'Off' that just keeps your profile private.
Ping is still there running.

I do not use social networking sites and I really resent Apple cramming Ping down users throats
whether they want it or not.

Ping should have been written with and ON/OFF switch.

iTunes 10 does not live up to Apple's standards. There are many issues with iTunes 10.

You know, I just don't get all the flack iTunes takes. It has its limitations as far as media codecs and containers go, and it hasn't got the best interface for editing metadata, but the playlists and library views are robust, the interface looks nice, and it's not even as slow as Firefox.

And looking at the alternatives available for OS X, I can't see anything better. I don't like iTunes' continued UI quirks (scrollbars, and now these abominable traffic light window controls and new oversized column headers), but to me it seems ultimately a decent app by Mac standards, which is saying something by Windows and Linux standards.

hello;

The reason for going back to iTunes 9.2.1 is simple. There is no Ping to deal with.

iTunes 10 violates many of Apple's own user interface standards. one glaring one is the 90 degree
turn in the Window Control Buttons in the upper left hand corner of the window. That is a joke.
Who sat on the user interface review of iTunes 10? That should have never been allowed to get out
into the 'wild'.
That one change can now be pointed to by Apple developers as to why their applications no longer
follow the Apple User interface standard.

I have all ready sent feedback to Apple concerning iTunes 10. I pointed out that I was canceling
several orders from Apple that totaled over $30,000.00 USD because of it. I will be talking with the
local Apple Retail Store manager about my displeasure with iTunes 10 and why I will no longer be
making the purchases that we had discussed just last week.

I just purchased an MacBook Pro for my wife, a special education teacher and part-time professor
at a state university. She was able to get the 'free' 8GB iPod Touch. She is not happy now because
if we had waited one week she would have been able to get the new generation iPod touch. She is
considering returning the MacBook Pro and everything that was purchased at the time because of
that.

iTunes 10 is just the straw that broke the camel's back.

Is that a way to completely remove Ping from iTunes 10?
