Question

iTunes 10 breaks Firefly Media Server / mt-daapd

iTunes 10 does not work with Firefly Media Server / mt-daapd on my local network. iTunes 9.2.1 worked fine. iTunes 10 will fetch the playlists, but will not fetch any media files.

It's not the server software, iTunes 9.2.1 still works fine with it on another Mac and Songbird with the daapd client plugin also plays music from the server fine when iTunes 10 on the same Mac will not.

Is there any way to fix this, if not, how do I downgrade back to iTunes 9.2.1 safely? Right now it is refusing to install due to a newer version installed and I don't want to proceed until I know how to do so safely. Thanks.

Same problem here.

It looks as though iTunes downloads all the data and then fails to display any of it, so I'm hoping it's just a bug rather than deliberate breakage. It's a deal-killer for me, so I'm going back to 9.2.1.

I am going to see if I can get it compiled and installed on my FreeBSD system tomorrow. If I do, i'll report back if it works with iTunes 10.

Same problem for me :

mt-daapd 0.2.4.2 on Gentoo Linux

iTunes display the playlists but they are all empty.

I have the same problem at home.
iTunes 10 will not display any media files from my MSS-II NAS with mt-daapd. Worked perfectly with iTunes 9.2.1 and previous.

The same... the DAAP server is in Wester Digital hard disk.

I install iTunes 10 in my Macs and in a windows XP and the same problem on all computers.

Same problem with my Synology DiskStation. Have notified Synology. Looks like Apple has changed something that breaks all daap iTunes Servers. Hopefully this is a bug and not a deliberate attempt to shut down what people really want with music storage. Maybe an attempt at forcing people to use the new Apple data Center to store their iTunes content. Too bad not everyone has high-speed unlimited downloads.

Another Drobo-FS user with the same issue. iTunes 10 sees the playlist but doesn't display anything when I try to select it. Worked fine until this morning (just as I upgraded iTunes).
