How do you know it was Apple who won't allow Hulu and not the other way round? Maybe Hulu refused Apple.
I find it useful to have both the ATV and the Roku. I'm not sure why it's much of an issue.
It would be great if we could just have the bottom line here without having to read through the entire ******* contest.
As neither Apple nor Hulu have made any public statement in the matter, thats unlikely to happen.
I know you are right.... I bought the Roku this week ... and it really is AWESOME ... tons of GOOD FREE content and HULU Plus !!! And it was a few buck cheaper than Apple TV!! Much better value and works and looks great!
I have both an Apple TV and a Roku. Great combo.
I wish Apple would just buy Roku and combine the two devices to make the ultimate device. It's rediculous that Hulu isn't on the ATV regardless the reason.
It's also, ridiculous that there isn't a Starbucks in my front yard, regardless of the reason.
You obviously feel the need to throw back a sarcastic comment to anything that sounds anti-Apple. Your kind give us Apple fans a bad name.
No, my point was your comment was absurd. To suggest that it was ridiculous that Apple hasn't done what you wan't "regardless of the reason", is just silly. Apple fans (of which I am not one, I am a user of Apple products) need no help from me in giving themselves a bad name.
Yes I know paying to watch commercials is a crime, so no comment on that is necessary. 🙂
Actually, I have no idea why people make such a big deal about this. Almost all of us pay for commercials all the time when we pay for cable. I was hesitant at first, but after a recent move, I decided not to get cable. Between Netflix, Hulu and a good antenna, I haven't missed a thing. No regrets.
Right now, the only thing preventing me from buying an Apple TV is the fact that it doesn't support Hulu Plus, and I am relegated to using a game console instead.

What does flash in a browser have anything to do with native support to play streaming content??!!? You need flash to play Netflix on a browser.
Actually, Netflix uses Silverlight.
I dont believe flash is necessary for Netflix. I have a new macbook air(2011) and it seems to use micosoft silverlight as the player not flash. Just FYI
Netflix doesn't use flash, it uses MIcrosoft Silverlight. The ATV does have feature which aren't enable, but such discussion isn't allowed here.
Just got the new Apple TV and the iPad Hulu+ app. You can use Airplay Mirroring to mirror the iPad screen to Apple TV and effectively watch Hulu+ on your big screen. Not ideal as a native Hulu+ app on ATV, but it does work.
