IPhone backup - how to disable the automatic backup??
Hi there. I hate it when my IPhone automatically decides to do a "backup" first when you want to do a sync with ITUnes. This is time consuming and I would manually like to backup the phone say once a month. Is there any way to set this up???
Latest Itunes version with an 3GS running OS4.0,
Windows XP Pro
The backup for my iPhone 4 takes 15 seconds or so.
If the backup is taking a long time with iOS4, how many photos and/or videos are in your iPhone's Camera Roll?
If you only do the backup once a month and there is a problem that requires restoring your iPhone with iTunes, some of the data on your iPhone included with the backup will be lost.
You can always stop the backup by hitting the X.....but I would have to agree with Allan that the back up is important and does not take too long to accomplish.
iTunes prefs, devices, and make sure "Prevent iPods, iPhones, from syncing automatically" is checked. I've been doing this for years, since the feature was added to iTunes a few years ago.
I thought he meant he wanted a way in which to stop the backup once it had began and appeared to be taking too long to complete. But your suggestion is a good one.
