iTunes and its visualizer

I some times will stream music and put the visualizer on full screen. I figure it acts like a screen saver that way for a time while I do something else. But my real screen saver keeps kicking in after so many minutes. Is there any way, other than disabling screen saver, to get it to allow the visualizer to continue until I decide to turn it off? I have iTunes 10, now.

Well I'm glad it's not just me. I've been fooling around with my settings trying to fix this because, like you, I put itunes on with visualizer to listen to music while I'm doing other things. Mine cuts out after about 20 minutes no matter what I set my preferences to. I only hope that the next version of itunes puts unlimited listening via visualizer back to the way it was. And soon because it's really annoying the way it is. Perhaps if enough people post here, itunes will get the message.

Hi Lancia,

I tried your fix with high hopes. Followed your directions exactly. Even tried restarting the system after it didn't work the first time. Unfortunately, all it's done is disable that feature I had that allowed you to minimize all screens open on the desktop so you could find other applications quickly. Clearly I'm doing something wrong. Any other ideas? Do you know how to get the screen minimizer feature back?

Once again after the installation and test of the 10.4 version, I sent the same feedback to Apple as with any release of iTunes since v10.0...

Since iTunes 10.0 there's no way to let the iTunes visualiser running while the music is playing.

After the iddle time set in System Preferences, the MacOS X screensaver firts, then the screen extinction will occur.

The only way to by-pass this bug is to use an additional software such as Cafeine that will prevent the Mac from launching the screensaver nor the screen extinction.

(the hint of the screen corner to disable Screensaver isn't enough as eventhough the screensaver won't go into action, the screen extinction will occur)

It's a pity that such a slight bug isn't fixed and remains since so many versions of iTunes 10!!!

(test done with MacOS X 10.6.8)
