unable to download ipad update

I tried 8 times(!) to download the latest iPad update. Every time the download finishes with 100% and iTunes show an error message, that an Connection error occurred and that i have to download it again.
I tried to download this with iPad connected, without the ipad, using "download and update", "download only". Restarted the computer. Everything. But there is always the same message, that there is "some connection problem" and the download deletes.

I have a stable wifi connection (home) and there are no problems with the itnernet connection. Any ideas ?

found this here:

1) Assure that you have a good, reliable connection to the internet
2) Unplug the iPod from the computer
3) Locate the iPod update file on your hard drive. I found the file here:
<HDD Device Name>/Users/<My User Name>/Library/iTunes/iPod Software Updates
The file is named iPod2,1 3.1.3_7E18Restore.ipsw
4) Delete this file
5) Plug the iPod back into the computer and allow the restore process to occur.

will try this and see, seems like I have to wait for another update ..

EDIT:
didn't found anything, any ideas where the download is to be found on windows (vista or any other) ?

try doing a hard reset before plugging in to update... if that doesn't work, reboot your computer... if you are still having problems, completely uninstall and reinstall iTunes (you can leave the library file, and music and all that, just remove the application)... if that doesn't work, i would go to an Apple Store to get their help...

same exact problem. Have been trying to download the update for weeks. Sometimes it gets almost all the way through downloading before it crashes. I've been downloading purchases (videos, music, apps) with no problems...but the ipad update simply will not download.

Make sure all your antivirus/antispyware software is temporarily disabled and try again.

Even with the antivirus off the download finishes with the error message.

Dear Apple, good idea to have everything via iTunes when iTunes doesn't work ..

I have a similar problem; when i try to update it tries to download, but after 30-40 mb downloaded it says connection timed out - error 3259.
I tried to update it from another pc (my brother's). We downloaded iTunes 10 yet the exact same problem kept occurring.
I wanna update my ipad to OS 4 😟

Check in Task Manager and be sure no program is running that monitors download activity. The problem you are having is almost always due to some type of software not allowing disk verification/write to take place at the end of the download.

That error is almost always due to antispyware/antivirus/firewall interference. And if it is not on your computer it may be on your ISP.

Yeah, usually every Tuesday night, and sporadically at other times... I had to note on the iOS thing because blackberryowner mentioned wanting to download iOS4. Just wanted to make sure he was clear on that...

I disabled all virus and other running programmes, yet the same thing kept happening. Still i couldn't manage to update to newer version.
The thing is i used two different laptops to update both had the same problem.

I have a new MacBook Pro and I just tried to sync my iPad to it and I keep getting an error message saying I don't have permission to make changes to the iPad. I reset the iPad after transferring the purchase earlier today and then synced the iPad and I still get the same message...can anyone help?

Sorted....at last, after more than a few trys. The way I got the update to install was to turn off my anti virus, connect ipad to pc and start the update download. While downloading turn off (completely) the ipad but leave plugged in by usb. Once download has completed turn back on ipad and the update software will extract and install....JOB DONE...thanks for the support Apple!!

It took me 2 downloads to update my ipad 3G ...1st time out of 4 apple devices i've ever had a problem,
Did the download using iTunes 10 btw,.
The 1st update finished download and then had a error message saying the download/file was corrupted,. I chose to download only not download & install as I was using the iPad while download update,. I unplugged the iPad then plugged it in,. It picked it up as usual then I checked update,. Downloaded the 2nd update and it went through fine with no problems
I've got a fast/stable net connection etc etc,.
