iTunes 10 aborts iPad update with error 1631

The exact same hardware and error message happens to me after just upgrading to iTunes10.

I have the same problem here when searching for an update. No problem with sync my iPod64.

Same here. I am using iPad 3G 64G version.

Since update to itunes 10.0, I got the same problem

I have 91 apps and quite a bit of data on my wifi
64 gig iPad.
Since upgrading to itunes10 it cannot bread my iPad and keeps telling me to reset it to factory settings which means losing my data.

I want to go back to iTunes 9
Do you know if that is possible please?

If you have 3.2.2 there likely won't be an iPad update until 4.2 in November since they put out a tentative date for that update. (just guessing of course) Maybe that will be such a heavy update that they are working on something in iTunes as they prepare for this and is why you get the error message - just a guess.

Sine I have updated to itunes 10 I have the same problem.

My iTunes error message : iTunes could not check for an update to the carrier settings for your iPhone...

This was while iPad was connected. Hopefully Apple are in the middle of something, but I do not expect an error popup referring to the wrong device!

Hola a todos, un saludo, tengo un ipad Wifi-3G de 64 Gb y al actualizar a Itunes10 me ocurre lo mismo, me da el error al intentar "actualizar" indicándome el error 1631 como si fuera un iphone y es un IPAD, por lo demás lo reconoce y todo funciona bien. Lo reinstalo y sigue igual. Está trabajando Apple en este error??????. Gracias.

I have inadvertently upgraded to i-tunes 10 and cannot sync my 64GB ipad. I have swapped various leads without success. Ipad in serious danger of becoming an expensive paperweight.

I upgraded to itunes 10 (awefully long and slow process) and now my netbook cannot find my ipad. Windows Xp can. The ipad registers on itunes with the same cable on another computer.
I have followed the advice on the Apple support page
1. Have stopped and restarted the ipad service
2. uninstalled and reinstalled itunes 10
3. uninstalled itunes 9 and reinstalled itunes 10 (the itunes libary will not read and itunes fails to start)
4. have reinstalled itunes 10

And still itunes 10 will not find the device.

This has been a totally awful experience worthy of a microsoft vista award

I have the same error come up.The ipad is recognised on my lap top and can connect to itunes but on the main pc where all my apps are it only reads the photos on the ipad and thats it!!!! ive tried unistalling itunes reinstalling itunes but still nothing any ideas please??????

It seems all have the same problem since upgrading iTunes 10.... should we go back to Apple shop to get the answer??

I had the same problem after updating to iTunes 10 on my laptop (Win7-64).

I then did a fresh install on my desktop (Win7-64) with the 64-Bit installer and no problems with syncing my new iPad.

Maybe the updater didn't download the the right version (32 or 64 bit)of the iTunes 10 update.
