BURN TO DISC BUTTON IS MISSING IN MY ITUNES 10

After installing iTunes 10 I suddenly no longer have a 'burn playlist' button in the lower right hand corner of the iTunes window. I can still burn from the menu bar but I'm wondering where the burning button went. Now in the right hand corner of the iTunes window are the two buttons associated with Genius. Anyone know where the burn to disc button went to? Thanks!

So your theory is the burn button is gone so as to discourage people from burning CDs?

Maybe they just forgot 🙂

I'm not into conspiracy theories and realise many people don't back-up to CD anymore, so Apple may well argue the button's no longer necessary. But they may also be testing the waters to see how many people notice the change as a way of gauging reaction for future reference. Yes, I probably am drawing a long bow, but from a business perspective the media corporations would be silly to ignore the advantages (to them) of moving to subscription/license-based models where distribution and content is completely under their control. Whether we consumers buy it is going to be the question.

Dave C , I COMPLETELY AGREE !

It's the first thing I thought when I noticed the button missing. Burning CD's lead to shared music, and they want to shut-out every possible option. So if the control it on your IPOD, ITunes, ect they can, but when you burn a CD that music/file can now be accessed by anyone.

It's no different then giving a book to somebody after you read it, is that illegal? I don't get it..

The flaw I see in this reasoning is that one can still burn a CD with iTunes 10.

Giving a book to someone after you've read it is perfectly legal. Photocopying the book and giving someone the copy is not.

I know I have to select a playlist to burn a CD.... I've used iTunes for a few years now. Never had this problem with any of the prior versions of iTunes. This is maddening. Updates should improve a software program not make it worse. The burn button is definitely gone and I assume Apple decided to remove it... even though they say it is there in their support pages re "how to burn music".
Is there a difference in what Mac OS version people are using when they download the iTunes update to v 10 and end up with this missing button problem? I am using OS10.6.4 - Snow Leopard.

I too am missing the burn button. I downloaded iTunes 10 using Apple Software Update. I've not run into this problem with any of my prior iTunes updates. I am also aware that I must be in one of my "Playlists" to see the button... I've burned a lot of CDs to share music with family for parties, BDs etc so know how to accomplish a burn in iTunes. I am using Snow Leopard 10.6.4.... could this be a cause for the missing button? Anyone else have ideas for a fix to this issue? I am not going to update my other laptop until Apple fixes this problem.. because I'm now wondering how many other glitches I'll find with iTunes 10. I also dislike their new iTunes icon it looks cheap and tacky. They have really 'drabbed up' a previously nice looking format.

I WANT MY BUTTON!

Yes, I miss that button as well. In fact, it was so much easier to explain it to novices with the button being there. Now you have to go into the File menu and pull it down - and there is no keystroke shortcut for it, either! You have to pull down the menu, which is so totally silly and reminds me of MS-DOS. Whatever happened to Apple's easy, click-ability? Who removed the Button? So silly.

Please bring back the button again. Thanks.
