How to identify Factory Unlocked iPhone 4 ?

Hello I would like to know how I can identify a factory Unlocked iPhone 4 without taking it out of the box, is there some special serial number to differentiate a Factory Unlocked iPhone 4 from others that are not ?

...well you're wrong, I talked to the seller and he will allow me to test the iPhone 4 before I buy it... that's cool isn't !! I understand that not all sellers will allow this but if I can't try the Phone I wont buy 😉

The test is to restore the phone in iTunes. The seller is going to let you open up and restore a brand new phone and then change your mind? He won't be able to sell it as a new phone once you open it and activate it.

factory unlocked phones are identified by iTunes as unlocked, and will tell you so when you restore or update the os.

I just need to know if I get my iphones Official unlocks.
I have 3 iphones and only one is factory Unlocked, but I would rather pay for official unlock that getting it jail broken. I live outside of USA, where and how can I get a solution?

Hi all,

I also have an iphone 4 MC605FB/A - 32GB Black , which is listed as factory unlocked. I've check it with 2 different SIM cards and and it seems that it is not unlocked.
Should I follow a certain procedure, or whether it has the latest version or not, should I have a phone signal?

The easy way to check just from the imei number its possible to find the following info about any iphone model

If you are unsure of the warranty status or the network the iphone 2g 3g 3gs or iphone 4 was sold on or which country it was from and also if its locked or unlocked and also tell the current firmware version

I live in india.Some days ago my younger brother purchased an i phone 4 (MC603B/A - 16GB Black) from one of his friend who lives in UK. His cellphone operator was Tmobile.Initially he said this phone is factory unlocked, later my brother came to know through other friend that its not factory unlocked. Before seller coming to India he unlocked this phone through Tmobile (by providing a fee to tmobile and giving restore in itunes according to tmobile suggestion). So currently he doesnot face any problem using any local sim. Later on he came to know that after returing to UK his friend claim to insurance that he lost his iphone in India and he already got a new one from insurance. My brother's friend cheated with him. Now my question is that, does apple again lock his phone if he update his current ios?
