iPod Shuts down after starting it up....

Question

Every time I start up the iPod on my iPhone, it crashes.... What can I do?

Dual 2 gig, G5, MacBook Pro 2.33 Intel, Mac Plus, SE30, 2 iMacs,, Mac OS X (10.5.2), iPhone 3GS w/ iOS 4.02

Have you tried basics from the manual?

Restart.

Reset.

Restore.
