IPP Printing. Windows IIS Server - 2 Shared Printers

Hi

At work, I have setup 2 printers via IIS. I can install the printers individually on a windows machine and print to them direct via IPP without issues.

Ive just tried to install one of the printers onto my mac but can not see how to choose a specific printer.

does anyone know how to do it please?

I have the Add Printer window open and have inserted the External (internet) IP address but can not see where to specifically choose the printer.

Thanks
Dave

You should be able to see a Print Using menu at the bottom of the Add Printer browser. If you open this menu there is the option 'Select printer software' and in doing so, an alphabetical list of installed printers will appear. There is also a search facility at the top of the list to help filter the list.

Note that I am assuming that you are adding the printer via System Preferences > Print & Fax. With the + button clicked under the Printers list the Add Printer window appears. You would then select the IP icon and IPP for the protocol.

Dave,
(I know nothing about IIS, BTW)
IPP is a protocol specification - part of the specification is that there is a queue name associated with each printer - it's part of the address (not just IP address).

The form for an IPP URI is:
http://192.168.0.5:631/printers/the_queue
or
IPP://192.168.0.5:631/ipp/the_queue

When using Mac Print & Fax, you just need to give IP address and queue name - the Mac forms the URI automatically.

Does this help?
