Screen saver starts when in fullscreen visualizer in iTunes 10

Same problem here. It's giving me a level of rage to be honest - it makes the visualiser functionally useless. There was a post on the Internet (http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-20031559-263.html) where the guy seems to indicate this is by design - I'm not buying it.
If it really was by design, then why does the Macbook fan still spin higher as if it's doing some hefty number crunching? I'm pretty sure the visualiser is still there and running, just hidden by the screen saver.
Bug, plain and simple, and needs a fix.
I have a feeling this is an issue with the screen saver not detecting activity properly, not a problem with iTunes. The screen saver does the same thing to me when I'm trying to watch a streaming video in a browser. It appears to me that the screen saver considers the computer idle any time an input device is not actively being used.
