Can't sync Google Contacts in iTunes 10

Since updating to iTunes 10 this morning, I have been unable to sync my Google contacts to my 32GB 4th generation iPod touch running OS 4.0.2. Once Google contact option is selected and the login and password is provided, iTunes keeps saying it is syncing, but the sync never ends.
