How do I delete my Ping account?

How do I delete my Ping account? I find Ping to be useless and I want out.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6), MOTU 896, Genelec 1029's

just go into your iTunes account and turn ping off.

disappointed at the pitiful handful of artists to follow at launch... should have beefed that up a bit before launch. it's gonna take awhile and go through some growing pains before ping is useful

I guess even if you want out you still have to see it below the iTunes Store in the menu bar.
I hope Apple lets us hide Ping in a future update.

Yeah, Ping was Dead on Arrival. They need to let us hide all the Ping nonsense in iTunes since so few people are actually using it.

After I turn my ping account off is there a way to get the Genius Recommendations back or am I stuck with the idiot Ping bar on the side?

The only way to restore the Genius sidebar for now is to backrev your iTunes install to 10.0
