    Hello.

I'm trying to say and said no such thing. The OP also asked a question regarding push access for received email with email accounts, which is not related or associated with push notifications for any other app that includes push notifications.

So, i have spent ages reading forums to try and e.stablish how to fix my issues.

    i have found.
_other people are experiencing the same issues as me.
_facebook should push to iphone a message when a notification is generated on your profile.

INTERESTING that. My wife has a iphone 4 as has no issues
I have a iphone 4, same network and dont get notifications.

    I have tried.
    -a full restore
    -a wipe and start fresh
-a removal of the FB app and reinstall on the handset
-a removal of the FB app from itunes and and install via itunes
-a reset of all settings on the iphone

    DOES ANYONE HAVE THE ANSWER?

I am getting a replacement phone and see if this fixes it next.

If you have FaceBook notifications enabled, FaceBook should push the chosen notification(s) to your iPhone when a notification is generated on FaceBook servers which is sent to your iPhone by the FaceBook servers.

What is the difference between a full restore with iTunes and a wipe and start fresh? There is only one type of restore with iTunes, which is a full restore along with two options - from your iPhone's backup, and as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup. Does this mean you have restored your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup, and as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup?

Have you contacts FaceBook customer or technical support in regards to this problem with your FaceBook account in particular.

Doubtful an iPhone exchange under warranty will resolve this, and for this particular problem only without a hardware problem with your iPhone being identified, Apple has agreed to exchange your iPhone under warranty with no other problem and without Apple determining your iPhone has a hardware problem?

You are getting a replacement phone simply because of the FB app even though everything else is working fine? That is crazy - it is the app not the phone. Set up FB so you get an email for every new notification and even if the app fails to push an alert you will get an email.

I am having problems with push notifications from the Facebook app on iPhone4 as well. Push works perfectly for my email accounts and other apps. It seems that sometimes I get the Facebook notifications, and sometimes I don't. In the latter case, I have to actually open the app and then it shows me the badge with the new notifications. I really do think it's buggy software, since I also had this problem with Facebook for Blackberry previously.

    Any other thoughts?

This means there is a problem with the FaceBook app or with FaceBook's server which sends the push notifications to Apple's server for push notifications with the app on the iPhone. If Push works perfectly for everything else but with the FaceBook app, it is obvious the problem lies with FaceBook or with FaceBook's app for the iPhone.

I am having the same issue with my iPhone 4S not receiving the pushed badge alerts for FB only -- all others work.  It works fine on my iPod...so what is the deal?  I've removed and reinstalled and still no luck...any suggestions?

I'm having the same issue. Facebook mobile app, doesn't show badges until I open the app, other apps update/show badges just fine.

I have iPhone 4, everything up to date.

Now here is the difference for me that no one has mentioned:  I've used the fb app for about a year. It's just been the last week or so that I've noticed it's not showing update badges on the face of the app.

Anyone having the same issue these days, or have a solution?

    Thanks,

    Sherri

I'm having the same issue with iOS 5.0.1 and and iPhone 4.

All other push messages work fine, just the facebook app does not send me notifications at all times. Strangely enough it did show me notifications for event invites which were the only unticked option in the apps settings. I've had the same issue under 4.3.

Is there anything all the people with the issue have in common? jailbreak maybe?

  • Krissypoo28 Level 1 Level 1 (35 points)

Jailbreak users have worse issues with push messages . I just got the iPhone4 about a week ago and I never get Facebook push messages. I get everything else in Facebook pushed. Also I tried everything and I can't get it to work, but I did something and was able to get it for 5 minutes but my phone died and then that was it. I am pretty sure it is a Facebook thing, but trial and error of many things will help, because obviously I got it to work momentarily. I spent 2 days on this an I have given up. Hope they come out with an update soon.

This might be total BS, but I think I might have a lead here:

From what I understand after some research is that it could have to do with the push certificate you get from apple when you first activate your device. This certificate seems to be stored somewhere in your backup as well. Somehow these can get corrupt and there seems to be no way to change this as there is no way to tell the Apple server to issue you a new certificate (wow that's thin ice here).

This would explain how you can basically do whatever with your device, full restore, wipe and restore, set up as new without it fixing the issue of broken push.

After speaking to the Apple service they send me a new device and when I set it up as fresh and activated it again, all notifications - but facebook messages - worked flawlessly. Once I restored back to my old backup push was broken again though.

So yeah, all this might not have anything to do with the facebook-messages-not-pushing-issue as that was still broken on the replacement iPhone, but hey - maybe it's a start ...

So yeh it just proves it now that it must be something with the Facebook app. Because I et everything else pushed minus the messages from Facebook . It is really ailing me lol

Both myself and my husband have iphone 4s,  He get's text notifications and I don't.  The phones were purchased at same time.  We have notices that in my FaceBook account for mobile text notifications, the option to add specific individuals so you get all of their post (such as close family membrs) is completly missing in my facebook account.  As is a comment option for friends.  We have tried to see what is diff in facebook options and phone options,  everything is same, but still doesn't work.  I believe it is a facebook thing, because these options are missing from facebook even when connected to facebook by a PC.  Problem is how to contact facebook to get it fixed?
