iTunes 10 keeps freezing. Please help.

I downloaded iTunes 10 to my computer the other night. Every time I try to start it up, it freezes about 5 to 10 seconds into it.

It doesn't matter what part of iTunes I try to access. If I go to the store, it freezes. If I go to my music, it freezes. It won't even let me click on Ping, it freezes before I can get to it.

I've uninstalled, reinstalled, but it does nothing.

I really don't know what is going on. My music and whatever else is on an external hard drive, but I have never had issues until I started to use iTunes 10.

Any help? Thanks.

At least I know I'm not the only one.

For me, it does occasionally start working if I just let it try to do whatever it is that it is trying to do to start up, but it is a ridiculous amount of time for it to start up, at least an hour.

I would really like to update my iPod Touch, but I can't because of this. Come on, Apple, please respond!

I'm working on it. I think I found the solution, but it isn't what I want it to be.

I copied all my music from the external hard drive onto my macbook's hard drive, and then disconnected the external hard drive. iTunes was able to start without freezing. I am now in the process of adding all my music back into the library, and from all appearances, it has yet to freeze on me.

So, it appears that iTunes 10 does not play friendly with external hard drives. At least not mine. I don't consider this satisfactory, but at least I'm able to use iTunes again.
