Itunes 10 Homesharing Can't Drag and Drop between computers!

Im a Professional DJ and i use (used) Itunes to keep both computers libraries up to date via Home shareing and drag and drop of files. With itunes 10 I can't seem to do that anymore. I am VERY frustrated as I Bought the music and i own both the computers!! Now i have to copy to a flash drive, remove it, put it in computer #2, then recopy. Anyone have any ideas to help this as it seems apple loves to mess with things....

No, it appears to be broken or removed in iTunes 10. Unless the settings, import and show all/show not in my library buttons are somewhere else this version of iTunes is worthless. I not sure you can enable the automatic syntonization of purchased music without going through the settings and settings appears to be missing. If you have found that please let us know where it went.

I just tested adding songs on my main library and on my laptop with Home Sharing enabled the songs never showed up. These songs were not purchased from the Apple store, but that shouldn't matter as we could sync our libraries before no matter where the content came from.

You can sort the shared library by date added and select the most recent additions but there is no way of importing the selected files. Dragging from the shared library does not work and there is no import available when right clicking (or anywhere else). There is a copy available when right clicking but that does not appear to do anything .

Apples documentation is now wrong or out of date since it refers to the settings and import buttons which are now gone. This is a critical function for all of us with multiple computers.

I just got it working.

I turned off Preferences -> Sharing -> Share my library on my local network (it was enable only on my primary computer). Then turned off Advanced -> Home Sharing on both computers. They I enabled it on my primary and then my secondary and this time the Show, Settings and Import buttons are there.

I think sharing my library on top of home sharing may be what caused the problem. Anyways I can now sync my libraries by using Show -> Items not in my library, selecting those, and then using Import.

I'm having similar problems. My main library resides on a Win XP Pro running iTunes 10. I have a new laptop running Win7-64b that I would like to synchronize with my main library. I can get home sharing to connect and stream to the new laptop but I can't drag and drop the files into the laptops library. I've closed home sharing, rebooted, and reestablished the home sharing connection for streaming but I still cannot transfer files. Any other suggestions?

Wirsbo,
Thanks for the advice. This worked now works for me based on your suggestion. Although I signed into iTunes with the same credentials, I wasn't "really" logged in until I purchased a song from the iTunes Store. Maybe there is another way to do this but it was worth the $0.99 to get this working. By buying a song, iTunes verified my account, I re-enabled Home Sharing, and like magic, the Import button appeared, and I could transfer songs between machines. Awesome!!!
I appreciate the help.

this thread is great and helpful, however, I have one question. I set up the homesharing. When I wanted to import one item from one computer to the second, it worked well, but when I wanted to transfer some other item from the second computer to the first, it won't work and it said that I don't have authorized the computer, however, when I click to authorize it, it said it's been already authorized.
Any suggestion what am I doing wrong?

jakudo,
Do a right-click > Get Info > summary tab for a song that works, and compare it to one that does NOT work.

On the account and *purchased by*, there is probably some small difference. One person had just one lower-case letter that made itunes think it was a 2nd account.

Home Sharing only works when the multiple PCs are authorized with the same, exact itunes account.

Just got this to work. I turned off home sharing on both computers I then logged out of itunes. The computer that I couldn't drag on I opened itunes. Then I purchased the free song of the week. Went back to the main computer turned on home sharing, Then turned on home sharing on the computer that was not allowing me to drag songs from first. You need to make sure to use the same home sharing account as the main computer. Everything is good

Have you tried transferring using Bluetooth? I had a similar issue, had to mess around with both my PC and my Mac who were refusing to communicate or share anything, then I got my PC to send some old iTunes files that weren't even IN my library but in a separate folder on my PC via a Bluetooth connection. It was something like 4 BILLION bytes of info and took all night to transfer, but it was sure easier than burning cds. Then taking the advice of others here, I turned off sharing on my PC, then on my iMac, and lo and behold, without even turning it back ON, my library on my PC became shared. It's just quirky. I used the process of elimination and persistence to pull it off. I wish Mac and PC were better friends, but I understand why they don't get along! Worth noting, when I was on a support call, different issue, discussed this and the Apple rep said for some people, sharing just never works.
