Harman Kardon SoundSticks II with iPad?

Dear all,
did someone try the Harman Kardon SoundSticks II together with the iPAD?
Apparently there is no sound control on the Harman Kardon SoundSticks II.
The price and the sound is good on the Harman Kardon SoundSticks II, but would you recommend it together with the iPad for the living room? I am not looking for a very very expensive high end music equipment, therefore my question. Is it feasable to use the Harman Kardon SoundSticks II and the iPad?

There is a volume setting on the subwoofer, a master volume control on one of the satellites and a volume control on the iPad. I tried mine with my nephew's, sounded just fine connecting to the headphone jack.

the sound controls are silver buttons at the bottom of one of the speakers

Hi there, first of all thanks for your helpful answers. Now I would like to know if I need the Apple ipad Dock if I want to connect my iPad to the Harman Kardon Soundsticks II? Or is it possible to connect via bluetooth? Are the any other (good) options in means ( ipad <-> stereo ) of bluetooth connection? Any suggestions?

You can use the dock if you want to use the line out (which has a volume tap) from the dock connector to your soundsticks. Otherwise you can just use a M/M miniplug cable and go from the headphone port on the iPad into the soundsticks. You'll also need this cable to use with the iPad dock.

The Soundsticks do not have Bluetooth or WiFi so you cannot connect in that manner. You can wait for iOS 4.2 in November, buy one of these: http://store.apple.com/us/product/FB321LL/A?mco=MTA4MjcyODY and the above cable and connect wirelessly via AirPlay.

So the current iPad does not have the Airplay installed? I am going to the US in October, am I lucky enough to get one with iOS 4.2 do you think? (If the current one doesnt have...) I actually have the airport home, so that would be an awesome solution with the Harman Kardon Soundsticks. Have the iPad with iOS 4.2 do I still need the dockingstation? So if I buy an iPad in October it will most probably come with iOS 4.0 i assume? Funny that in apple.com under the Tech Specs the iOS hasnt been specified. Will the iOS 4.2 software update be for free then? What does apple have to say about that? This is really important for me to have due to the Airplay...

If you buy it in October it will have 3.2.2 on it. The update in November will be free. You don't have to use the dock.

There is not going to be any iOS 4.0 for the iPad. The current version is 3.2.2. The next major update version being released in November will be 4.2 and will be free to all iPad owners. However it is still possible there may be more 3.x.x. incremental minor updates between now and then. Any new features that are part of the iPhone 4.x.x. iOS that are being added to the iPad won't come until 4.2 is released.

If iOS4 for the iPad is going to be released in November 2010 I really doubt is will be pre-installed in an iPad delivered in October 2010. Apple has said that iOS4 for the iPad will be a free update.

When iOS 4.2 is released there will probably still be stock in the retail channels of iPads with 3.x.x. versions of the OS except for maybe the Apple stores. It will be sometime after that before all iPads being shipped and sold will come with 4.2 or a later version.

So if the update to iOS 4.2 will be for free then its great, then Im able to buy my ipad in october already with the iOS 3.2.2, that should be no problem then. Meaning I will have airplay with the new iOS. Question is now, I have the airport and a cinch cable that I used to have for my Teufel Stereo, in case I want to connect it to the Harman Kardon Soundsticks, how would that look like (without the docking station for the iPad)?

I just wanted to tell you all that I found the perfect speakers for the iPad, its the Audioengine 5 with AC plugin for the airport express. Cheers Sam
