ipad not playing videos on the internet

ipad not playing videos on the internet

when i try to play an mp3 file or mp4 video from safari browser
it said download or play in media player
when i click media player it plays only the sound but i don't see the video or controls
how do i fix this?

Macbook Pro, iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

Can you provide and URL to a site that does this?

One thing you can do is....hold the sleep and home button together until the Apple logo shows up. This may take 10 seconds or so. Then wait until the iPad starts up again. Then try the site with the video again.

all sites with mp4 video content
and yes i have rebooted it several times the same screen appears

You need to give an URL for an example. Are you sure these aren't flash movies?

Do you mean video.google.com? If so, some of these videos are flash and the iPad doesn't support flash. Some of the videos aren't and play just fine.

I see a message that this player is not enabled for HTML 5 delivery.
I am using Safari browser on my iPad. I thought HTML 5 was Apple's answer for video.

You thought wrong. Apple/Jobs never said HTML5 was an "answer" for video, it's an open source alternative to flash and the web platform of the future....

And the message you are getting is because USA Today has not set up their videos for HTML5 yet

As already mentioned it's not Apple's answer to Flash. It is an alternative to Flash that Apple are supporting and promoting. It's up to the web site designers to actually implement HTML5 support on their sites and not Apple.

Regards the original post more then likely the the reason why the content is not playing properly is because it uses Flash.

Interesting. I used to get a web site MSG that I needed to upgrade my flash player or something like that, when I viewed a page with flash content.
I guess Safari is now detecting flash content and giving me the confusing MSG about someone's player (web site, I guess) not enabled for HTML 5 delivery.

it's the other way around. it's the website that's detecting your browser and whether or not you have the plugin installed. it's flash that's giving you that message, not apple.
