antiglare screen protector

I am ready to buy my first Mac and am going to get a Mac Book Pro. My question is this. Should I buy the glossy screen and add a anti glare screen protector or just get the ant glare screen? I am a senior citizen who wears trifocals and the small print on the hi resolution screen is hard for me to read. Glare and reflections on the glossy are also bothersome. The older model standard anti glare screen was ideal.

You will find that the matte version of the computer screen is much better for you. I would also suggest that with your eye condition you purchase an additional antiglare screen protector to further diffuse the glare. NuShield has been selling these films for the Mac for over 7 years with great customer satisfaction. You can use BLG10 as your discount code and get 10% off your purchase.

Contrary to the preceding post, you will find the antiglare screen completely unsatisfactory if you can't read the small type that appears on it in non-adjustable user interface elements like the menu bar and dialog boxes. If the standard-resolution screen makes things comfortable to read, that's what you should buy, and because it isn't available in antiglare, you'll need to apply an antiglare film to it. I have no personal experience with any of them, so I can't recommend one that is effective and easy to apply cleanly.

Then again, I'd say buy the anti-glare version. It's beautiful. I think that it is way easier on the eyes than my wife's glossy screen. And the resolution is adjustable. You can put a "displays" icon on the menu bar and set the resolution to whatever looks comfortable to you. Sometimes at night or early morning, my eyes are tired, and I just make everything bigger.

There is also a zoom feature that allows you to momentarily expand the screen image. I do that a lot, too.

If you buy it at an Apple store, you can get the sales guy to show you all that and set it up for you.
