Yes, as far as i know you can use your iPod Touch to talk to other skype members an call other mobile devices from it on WiFi. Although i do not know if you can use the Front facing camera for skype video.

Yes, I tried to edit my post (but I guess I didn't do it right) to say...

Does Skype work (both video and audio) on the new iPod Touch.

Well we would have to sit back and see if it will be.

I use Skype on my 3rg Generation iPod Touch quite often and it works just fine. I also use Skype on my iPhone 4, and as of the latest update I have downloaded, it still does not support video calls, so unless there is an update to the Skype app, it will not support video calls on the new iPod Touch either.

Sadly enough the skype application for the IOS devices doesn't offer support for video output because the lack of improvements on skype side. The VOiP company skype has been slowly adding features to it's app, so maybe we will probably have to wait months to get video support.

If you planning to buy an iPod touch 4G anytime soon, your best bet will be downloading Fring on your device. Fring announced a major new update to their iPhone application. The new update supports iPhone 4′s front facing video camera for two way video chats(via skype service) as well as multitasking for iOS 4. The best of all it's a free application, download it on app store.

    Good luck.....

Actually Fring removed Skype support due to an API dispute between Fring and Skype. So as of now there is now video calling app available on the App store.
